Frequently Asked Questions

  • LangLi is a multilingual community library created to celebrate languages, cultures, and stories from around the world.

Unlike a traditional library, LangLi focuses specifically on books in multiple languages and in translation, making it a space for language learners, heritage speakers, and culturally curious readers.

At present, we only operate and loan books in Tulsa, OK. It’s designed to feel warm, personal, and community-centered—more like a shared cultural living room than a large institutional library. We would love to add a shipping membership option in the future!

  • The collection evolves as LangLi grows, shaped by community interests and the stories we’re most excited to share.

We have books in over 20 different languages, currently focusing on more widely-spoken languages like French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Spanish, etc.

  • Anyone who loves books, languages, and cultural exploration is welcome to become a member.

Once the application is complete and the $50 annual membership fee is paid via the donation link on our website, you are ready to check out books!

Whether you’re studying a language, reconnecting with your heritage, or simply want to explore stories from around the world, LangLi is for you.

  • Not at all. LangLi is for everyone, whether you’re fluent, learning, or just curious.

Many members come to browse, discover, and enjoy stories even if they only recognize a few words. Sometimes it’s about understanding every sentence, and sometimes it’s just about soaking in the rhythm, artwork, and magic of another language.

  • Yes! Members can borrow books from the LangLi collection to enjoy at home.

We know it can take longer to finish a book in a foreign language. Unlike a traditional library, the lending period is as long as you maintain your membership.

Borrowing is at the heart of what we do—sharing stories and letting them travel.

  • Unlike a traditional library, the LangLi collection is housed in a board member’s private residence.

We regularly bring a selection of books in various languages, across reading levels, to public events. This will include spontaneous events, in addition to our monthly pop-up at Saint Amon Bakery in Tulsa, OK.

If you would like to view the collection and/or request a particular book, please email us and we will either bring your book(s) to our next event, or arrange a time to meet you.
